2011 • Build a new society
April 2 and 3, 2011
10.000 people have attented the 21 debates held at UNESCO on April 2&3, 2011.
"Building a new society" was the central theme of this year Earth university.
Ecology is increasingly taking an important place in our lives and the need to protect our environment is the subject of many debates and growing concern. We must change our lifestyle if we want avoid a runaway increase in the dangers facing us.
For these reasons, it seems more essential than ever to "build a new society".
Building a new society means reshaping our environment policy to make a long-term view and future generations a central point in our objectives for our society.
Building a new society means allowing men to live in dignity, being able to share and care.
Building a new society means inventing a new model of development based on changes in methods of production and consumption, in every field: energy, transport, housing, agricultural, health, etc.
Building a new society means establishing an ecological democracy, i.e. developing a new kind of governance, given that all citizens are concerned by environmental crises, both as victims and as contributors.
Building a new society means working on the idea of reconciliation.
Reconciliation between political power and citizens.
Reconciliation between the spirit of enterprise and the spirit of sharing.
Reconciliation between man and nature.
Lastly, building a new society means restoring the right to dream, and placing renewed importance on the long term view, vulnerability, doubt, humility, respect and altruism.
