2015 • Let's change all climates
December 4 and 5, 2015
The 21st Climate Change Conference was held in Paris in December 2015. It was an opportunity to mobilise governments, companies and citizens around ambitious but realistic goals for climate change resilience. Reaching these goals will require a thorough assessment and understanding of all climates – political, economic, social, educational and even individual -- as well as a comprehensive and concrete approach based on the engagement of all, each at his or her own level (political, corporate or citizen). This was the main challenge of Earth University of the 4 and 5 December 2015.
All the different types of climates raise questions about our society. How can we change the economic climate? This forces us to examine the evolution of our means of production, trade and consumption. A new economy can arise and develop.
How can we improve the social climate?
It is buckling under the pressure of unemployment, precariousness, inequality and a sense of everyman for himself. We need to invent a new social contract.
Is the political climate getting better?
In the light of recent and upcoming elections, our country and our European neighbours have doubts about their political leaders, their traditional political parities and what is worse, even democracy itself. We must breathe new life into democracy.
And what about us? How can we change? What kind of life do we want to live?
Can we transform our lives harmoniously? Can our individual contributions make a difference in changing these different types of climate?
