Earth University, the meeting of economicsand ecology

Earth University is a crossroads of reflection and debate, which offers two days of discovery and exchange open to all, on the major themes of society and the environment. This event has been held since its creation in 2005 at UNESCO in Paris.

It is a forum for exchange between the invited experts and the public who participate in the discussions. Together, they seek to reconcile their respective interests for the benefit of humanity's well-being and respect for ecological balance.

2005
Feed the people, feed the world

The theme of the inaugural session brought together thousands of people for the first time on Saturday, November 19th, 2005 at UNESCO. Food is at the heart of man's relationship with nature. With 6.3 billion inhabitants on the planet (8 billion in 2020), food is a major ecological challenge, both to feed people without damaging nature, nor their health and integrity. We are what we eat! And our health as well as our personal balance depend on the quality of our food.

2007
Energies of the future, future lifestyles

The second edition of Earth University at UNESCO on Saturday, March 31st, 2007, took stock of the situation and the future on a burning subject: "Energies of the future, future lifestyles". The necessary mutation of our society requires a radical change in our daily behavior. Earth University invites us to a projection into the future.

2008
Reinventing progress

Twenty or so debates were held in the amphitheaters of UNESCO on October 18th and 19th, 2008. The progress, such as scientific discoveries, medical and technological advances constitute the environment of our daily life. But it has not escaped us that we are at the end of the industrial phase, the one that has carried the West for two hundred years, with its excessive progress without any collateral cost to pay (the poisoning and depletion of the planet). For some years now, we have been aware that we must give meaning to progress and invent another model of society.

2011
Build a new society

Twenty debates were held in the amphitheaters of UNESCO on April 2nd and 3rd, 2011. Ecology is more and more a part of our lives and the need to protect our environment fuels debates and raises growing concern. It is urgent to change the pace if we want to avoid an exponential worsening of these dangers. For these reasons, it seems more necessary than ever to "Build a new society".

2013
The best is yet to come

The fifth edition of Earth University took place on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 at UNESCO. Ecology and the questions that arise from it are both ancient and recent. The world, our world, is going through a period of exceptional change. By wanting to consume too much, innovate too much, build too much and cultivate too much, we have put ourselves at the heart of a turmoil for which we are the first responsible. Even if it is urgent to change our way of living in the world, it is not yet too late to do so. On the contrary. We have the awareness and the reactions are already palpable from both an individual and collective point of view.

2015
Let's change all climates

In Paris, in December of 2015, the 21st climate conference was held. It sought to mobilize states, businesses and citizens on realistic and ambitious climate resilience goals. To achieve this, we needed to have an approach and understanding of all climates: political, economic, social, educational, individual, global, but also concrete, in order to pass through the commitment of all to act at their level. This was the main issue of Earth University of December 4th and 5th, 2015.
